The Regulation appears to be able to manage the AI market in Europe well and to avoid the harmful effects of a globalized AI market without rules.
Several of the legislative solutions are no different than those adopted in the GDPR.
One of the characteristic of the Regulation seems to be the significant market control power of the Commission.
Beyond market strategies, the regulation seems to protect fundamental rights from possible AI abuse well and if the price to be paid is a bit of protectionism and some limits to research and development, maybe it’s worth it.
